About the Rabbi
Since assuming the pulpit of the Young Israel of Hewlett, Rabbi Simcha Hopkovitz has quickly made an impact for the good with his friendship, stirring drashos, and thought-provoking classes. A warm, dynamic, and inspirational leader, Rabbi Hopkovitz has fostered relationships throughout the community and made families feel welcome and at home at the Young Israel of Hewlett.
In addition to his role as Mara D’Asrah of the Young Israel of Hewlett, Rabbi Simcha Hopkovitz holds the position of Maggid Shiur at Yeshiva Toras Halakha in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens. In that capacity he serves as a confidante and role model to his students.
Rabbi Hopkovitz is a Yadin Yadin musmakh of RIETS, a graduate of Yeshiva College, and an alumnus of Yeshiva Ohr HaChaim. He is the author of Sefer Yismakh Moshe, on Tractate Bava Kamma, and is currently pursuing graduate studies in Jewish History and Education at Touro College where he is a Legacy Heritage Fellow.
Rebbitzen Sara Hopkovitz (nee Weiss) was born and raised in Far Rockaway. A graduate of Touro College, she earned a M.B.A. from Baruch College. She currently works for the Friends of the IDF and enjoys setting up dating singles.
The Hopkovitzs are blessed with children, Devasha Leba, Leah Bracha, Shimmy, and Mindel Tova.

Rabbi Dr David Wiseman has been the Rabbi of the Hashkama Minyan at the Young Israel of Hewlett for over 15 years. He received his smicha in 2012. He has given numerous shiurim and divrei Torah in Shul and throughout the community. He is a dentist and has dental offices in Cedarhurst and Fresh Meadows. He lives in the community with his wife and children.
